The set for temporary internal drainage of upper urinary tract (stents for ureters) is designed for ensuring urine flow from the calycopelvic system to the bladder. It is
used in cases of the impaired patency of ureters due to calculus presence, "stein strasse" after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteral stenosis, external
compression of the ureter etc. The pigtail catheter acts as an internal urine diversion and its superiority over previous methods is that it eliminates external urine
diversion and therefore reduced the danger of superinfection.
Polyurethane catheter with ends of double pigtail type. The diameter of pigtail curve is 2 cmin the part introduced into the renal pelvis, and 4 cm/or 2 cm/ in the part
placed in the bladder. The end in the pelvis is blind, the end in the bladder is open. Both end-parts of the catheter contain numerous ports ensuring free flow of urine.
The diameter of the catheter is from 3F to 10F its length is from 14 to 30 cm. The leading is made from stainless steel, its diameter is .038" and its length is 90 cm.
After the introduction into the lumen of the catheter it straightens the catheter enabling its introduction into the working channel of the endoscope and then into the
ureter and renal pelvis. Pusher - for the pushing out of the end of the catheter from the endoscope into the pelvis. Caps - immobilizes the catheter after its introduction
into the leading.
