The double Pigtail type catheter is used in cases of impaired patency of ureters due to calculus presence, "stein strasse" after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy,
ureteral stenosis, external compression of the ureter etc. The Pigtail catheter acts as an internal urine diversion and its superiority over previous methods is that it
eliminates external urine diversion and therefore reduced the danger of superinfection.
